Nellis Tavern

Route 5, east of St. Johnsville

Built in 1747. It lies between Fort Klock and St. Johnsville, west of Fort Klock and just at the edge of St. Johnsville. The house is being restored and maintained by the Palatine Historical Society. Several interesting events take place here each year. Open to the public during special events. The house features some special stenciling. During the 1980's the house was slated for demolition, but concerned local citizens saved the house; however, Route 5 was elevated and cuts off some of the view of Nellis Tavern.
