WILL OF BETSEY SHAFER

NOTE: Deed from Betsey Shafer, Tewalt Shafer's widow. to her son Barney Shafer, of land in the Town of Cobleskill, Schoharie co., NY USA.

This Indenture, made this Twenty-First day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-seven, between Betsey Shafer, of Grove, in Allegany County, Widow of the late Tewalt Shafer, of Cobleskill, of Schoharie County, now deceased, of the first part, and Barney Shafer, of Cobleskill, aforesaid, Son of the said Betsey and Tewalt Shafer, of the second part,

Witnesseth: That the said party of the first part, in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred Dollars, to her in hand paid, by the said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby confessed and acknowledged, has bargained, sold, remised and Quit-Claimed, and by these presents does bargain, sell, remise and Quit-Claim unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever: All that certain Tract, piece or parcel of land, lying and situated in the aforesaid Town of Cobleskill, in Schoharie County, and bounded as follows: - On the north by the lands of John P. Bellinger and of Peter Shafer; on the east by lands of Henry Foland; on the south by lands of Henry Mickle, Cornelius Wells, John Mickle, & Henry Warner; and on the west by the lands of William Radliff and John R. Shafer, containing one hundred and fifty-one acres of land, be the same, more or less:

Together with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining, and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues, and profits thereof, and all the estate, right, title, interest, claim and demand whatsoever of the said party of the first part, either in law or equity, of, in and to the above bargained premises, with the said hereditaments and appurtenances:

To have and to hold the said above mentioned premises, to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, to the sole and only proper benefit and behoof of the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever.

On this twenty-first day of One thousand and eight hundred undersigned, a Justice of the personally came Betsey Shafer, individual described in, and who December, in the year of our Lord and forty-seven, before me, the Peace, in and for said County, to me known to be the same executed the written conveyance, and acknowledged that she executed the same for the uses and purposes therein mentioned.

I hereby certify that John Willard, before whom the annexed instrument in writing was proved or acknowledged, was at the time of taking such proof or acknowledgement, a Justice of the Peace, in and for said County, duly authorized to take the same, and that I am well acquainted with his handwriting, and verily believe that the signature to said Certificate of Proof or Acknowledgement is genuine.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Official Seal at Angelica, in said County the 22 day of December 1847.
