Sir, I enclose herewith sheets numbered 1--8 inclusive, giving the heirs of Josiah Brown and hence of his son, Stephen W. Brown, so far as I have the particulars.

I would suggest that if affidavits are needed the following named persons be consulted.

I would also suggest Mr. Warren H. Brown Justice of the peace, Dolgeville, N. Y. or Mr. Addison Lamberson, Dolgeville, N. Y. as persons who are acquainted with the above mentioned heirs and who could readily secure the proper affidavits.

Family of Josiah Brown, Revolutionary Soldier

Josiah Brown married widow of Jabez Olmstead and had 7 sons and 1 daughter, vig:--

• Josiah O. Brown, married, had 6 sons, 3 daughters
• Nathan Brown, married had 5 sons, 7 daughters
• Daniel Brown, married, had sons, daughters
• Samuel Brown, unknown
• Polly Brown, unmarried
• Evelin Brown, married, had 3 sons, 1 daughter
• Merlin Brown, married twice, had 4 sons, 3 daughters
• Stephen W. Brown, Married, had 1 daughter who married late in life. She died without direct heirs, leaving an estate said to be$70,000 which was disposed of by will except a residue of about $10,000.

Josiah Brown, his daughter Polly and his sons; Josiah O., Nathan, Evelin, and Merlin are buried in the Hewitt burying ground about two miles east of Dolgeville, N. Y. Stephen W. is buried at Little Falls, N. Y.

• Ella married Gaster (?) Mann and was living at Little Falls, N.Y. a few years ago. I have no knowledge of the sons.

• Alvina married Allen and had children of whom Josiah Allen was recetnly living near Dolgeville, N.Y.
