No return of the Sixteenth, or Cambridge Regiment, as arranged in October, 1775, has been preserved. The Minutes of the Council of Appointment state under April 4th. 1778- "Resolved, that the following persons be Officers at the Regiment in the County of Albany, commanded by Colonel Lewis Van Woert, to wit.."

Ebenezer Allen, 2d Major, vice Youuglove, appointed in his stead upon false suggestion, Younglove to be again Adjutant.

March 6, 1779.

Charges of cowardice, &c., preferred against Col. Van Woert, Lt. Colonel Blair, Majors Ashton and Allen, but decided to be groundless. May 3, 1779, except against Major Allen, who was dismissed for having on a former occasion joined the enemy.

February 26, 1781.

Colonel Lewis Van Woert resigns.

March 12, 1783.

Major Ashton resigns on account of ill health. The Council, " considering the present peculiar situation of that part of the State, ' resolve' it would be inexpedient to make any new appointment in the Regiment," which Capt. Wells and others recommended.

June 27, 1783.
