Various Corruptions of Christian Names in Use Among Early German Families

A proper understanding of the various nicknames and equivalents commonly used by the early settlers is necessary in order to avoid multiplication of individuals. It is this penchant which has burdened the records. Because we have in history and early documents George, Gerg, Yerry, Jerry Klock it is assumed by the uninitiated that they were separate individuals. Aside from the fact that there was a George Junior, no other individual of the time existed. The list appended will be helpful to students of the book of names. It is contributed by Lt. L. F.
