Waring $ 2." I founda notation about the wedding of these two, "May, 1839", and the foregoing is the only wedding in May in this church. I think this is the wedding of these two. Another reference says that they were married by the Rev. H.E.Waring.
OBITUARY: Name and date of newspaper is unknown.Relict of the late Abram Ottman, died at the home of her son, Charles Ottman, in Schenectady, Wednesday, Jan.3, 1906, aged 92 years and 8 months. Death was due to the infirmities of age. The deceased was a native of thetown of Cobleskill, and the last surviving child of Christian Brown, Jr., son of Capt. Christian Brown, ofRevolutionary fame. There were four of the "Brown girls", as they were familiarly called, all famed for theiraccomplishments and beauty, and all lived to be over 90 years of age. The others, now dead, were Mrs. MariaDow, Catherine Sloan, and Mrs. Elizabeth Warner (Betsey). (Don't know name and date of newspaper.)
OBITUARY: (Sent by Mrs. T.E. Jarvis, great-niece, Grandville, MI, Rte 1) Name and date of newspaper is unknown. In 1839, Caroline Brown was united in marriage to Abram Ottman whom she survived 20 years. For along time they resided near Lawyersville in the town of Seward. The deceased was a member of the oldRhinebeck Church and lived the religious life she professed. She retained, until recently, the control of herfaculties to a remarkable degree, and it was a delight to listen to her relate the experiences of the old times. Shewas ill, seriously, only a few hours and death came at last, peacefully in sleep. She is survived by three sons,Charles of Schenectady, George L. of this village and Norman of Virginia. The remains will be brought toLawyersville on Friday, where funeral service will be held at the Lutheran Church at 1 p.m., followed by intermentin the cemetery at that place. OBITUARY: Sent to me by Robert A. Shafer, 421 Park Ave., Waverly, NY 14892 USA, August 28, 1992, HenryP.'s descendant. Published in the BRADFORD-ARGUS newspaper, Towanda, Pa., and info copied at theBradford Co. Historical Society, Towanda, PA. Col. Henry P. Shaffer Col. Henry P. Shaffer. Died at his home inNorth Towanda, PA, December 28, 1896, after several month's illness of Bright's disease. Col. Shaffer was bornin New York State, Feb. 12, 1811, and for many years resided at Cobleskill, NY, moving to Pennsylvania about 30years ago. He was a gentleman of fine intelligence, sterling integrity and an uncompromising Democrat. He waswell versed on political subjects and took a great interest in National politics, having attended every presidentialelection and cast a Democratic vote from Jackson to Wm. J. Bryan. Up to within a few months of his death he wasvery active and carried the mail twice a day from North Towanda to this place. Besides his aged wife, one son andfour daughters survive him. The remains were interred in Ulster PA. (Ulster Cemetery, Ulster, PA USA.) (RobertA. Schaffer states: "I'm sending an obituary I copied from an old newspaper I found at the Bradford Co.
