Who We Are

St. John's Reformed Church is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America--the oldest Protestant denomination with a continuous history in the United States (1628). We are a "mainline" church, perhaps best described as "Dutch Presbyterians", although we recently lost the ethnic stereotype.

This congregation has served the area since the earliest German settlers arrived (possibly as early as 1725). The church was officially organized in 1770, and we now use a building constructed in 1881. With the addition of an education wing in 1950, we are blessed with a fine facility to support the work of the church.

What We Believe

We believe the Bible is the Word of God and the final authority for faith and practice. We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of those who have faith in Him. We believe in the historic Christian faith as confessed in the Apostles' Creed. The Heidelberg Catechism, a 16th Century statement of faith has played a particularly important role in our history. We believe that we are called to do God's work in the world, and that we are to share His message with others.
